John Caul has decided that it is finally time to wreak some havoc on the townspeople who’ve ostracized him for the past 20 years. When he was a 17-year-old kid, John did the inexcusable—he accidentally burned down the brand new high school gymnasium on the eve of its championship basketball team playing the first game of their season. Now 37 years old, John decides he’s had enough, and he hatches a plan for some payback. As with any well-planned, or in John’s case, not so well-planned scheme…nothing goes as designed.

Also included, six more stories from the Bad Reputation universe.

Here’s the cover of our upcoming book, Two-Seven Remainder by Matt Hader.

Two-Seven Remainder

A bit about the newest Amika author:

Matt Hader was raised on the north side of Chicago and in Park Ridge, Illinois. He studied broadcast communications at Oklahoma State University, and as a walk-on, he played wide receiver for the varsity football team. Following the launch of his creative start as on-air/writing talent in the Chicago radio market, Matt was invited to attended classes at The Second City, which was instrumental in propelling him into his writing career. Once he optioned his first screenplay to an LA-based production company, he went on to land an agent and script sales and option deals with producers associated with Sony Pictures, Universal, Twentieth Century Fox and Fox Searchlight. Hader wrote and produced the independent feature film Dead Horse, which starred Daniel von Bargen (Philadelphia, O’ Brother Where Art Thou, Seinfeld) and he also produced the feature film April’s Fool.

Matt co-wrote the book Confessions of a Rock Star with The Smithereens frontman, and platinum award winning, Pat DiNizio. The book was adapted into a one-man show that went on to a heralded 12-month run at the legendary Riviera Hotel & Casino on the Las Vegas Strip. Hader also served as creative consultant for DiNizio’s ESPN baseball documentary 7th Inning Stretch, which starred Bruce Springsteen, Joan Jett, Cal Ripkin and Tony Gwynn, as well as many other notables from the professional baseball and entertainment worlds.

In 2011, Hader’s full-length darkly comedic novel Bad Reputation was published. Subsequent to the successful launch of the novel, he’s also written six other accompanying stories that expand the fictional Bad Reputation universe. In 2015, his publisher released the entire 7-story volume Bad Reputation: A Complete Collection.

Hader’s next novel, Two-Seven Remainder, will be published by Amika Press.

Matt served on the board of directors of the American Screenwriters Association for three years. The non-profit organization’s focus was on educational programs geared toward furthering fledgling screenwriters careers, and as part of his duties, Hader delivered instructive presentations at several film festivals and conferences, including Comic-Con in San Diego, and the Austin Film Festival. He’s served as a writing mentor for the Duke City Shootout film festival and has written informative articles for the Gotham Writers’ Workshop as well as other publications. For four years Matt hosted the popular screenwriting blog “Hi, my name is Matt, and I’m a screenwriter” where he would altruistically help to further the educational pursuits of new writers.

After spending several years in California, Matt and his wife, Lori, now make their home in Barrington, Illinois.
